Censeo Invited to Lead Test Authoring Workshops at ASTD 2008
Jim Higgins to present a practical short course for test authors at ASTD’s annual conference in San Diego.

October 23, 2007
MAITLAND, FL – Censeo Corporation, the leading provider of innovative and user-friendly employee assessment technologies, announced today that the company will participate as a presenter at the American Society for Training & Development (ASTD) 2008 International Conference & Exposition to be held June 1-4 in San Diego, California. Censeo Vice President/Co-founder Jim Higgins will lead a workshop titled “Improving Your Knowledge Tests: A Practical Short Course for Test Authors” on June 2 from 4:00-5:30 pm, and on June 4 from 1:15-2:45 pm. The event will be offered as part of ASTD’s Measurement, Evaluation and ROI track.

ASTD decided the topic was so important they requested the session to be repeated to allow more people the opportunity to attend. “Repeating multiple sessions is in response to attendee requests at past conferences,” explained Linda David, ASTD Manager, Conference Programming.

Mr. Higgins will present the “short course” to those involved in test design and authoring. Specifically, he will address:

  • Accurately linking test content to the objectives
  • Developing a test blueprint
  • Selecting the most appropriate question types for the objective
  • Avoiding the most common test authoring mis-steps
  • Drafting high quality questions
  • Piloting/modifying the test
  • Performing an item analysis to measure quality and continually improve your tests

As a co-founder of Florida-based Censeo Corporation, Mr. Higgins has twelve years of industry experience in the areas of competency modeling, workforce knowledge and skill assessment, and employee development planning. Throughout his career, he has had the opportunity to positively impact talent for many of today’s leading organizations, including United Parcel Service, Microsoft, GlaxoSmithKline, Wachovia, General Motors, and The US Department of Justice.

Prior to founding Censeo in 2000, he was an Industrial and Organizational Consultant for Thomson Learning/Alignmark, where he was involved heavily in the development of various pre-employment screening and employee development processes. Jim holds a Masters degree in Industrial-Organizational Psychology from Radford University, and a B.A. in Business Administration and Psychology from Marshall University.

Censeo will also be exhibiting at ASTD 2008 and can be found in booth #925 on the show floor.
