For Microsoft, Assessment is Critical
to Improving Leadership Competencies
April 2002
MAITLAND, FL – Microsoft Corporation, an organization
known worldwide for setting the standard in innovative software
solutions, has turned to Censeo Corporation to provide an
efficient method of identifying and assessing the core leadership
competencies required for customer service excellence.
Censeo Corporation, a human resource consulting firm specializing in web-enabled employee
assessment solutions, helped Microsoft’s Enterprise Messaging Support Unit quickly and efficiently
identify core leadership competencies and then assess these competencies using the Censeo
Online 360 Survey Platform™. The platform allowed Microsoft managers to register, invite others
to provide feedback, complete surveys, and receive results in a turnkey fashion.
Based on the 360 survey data, Microsoft provided each participating manager with a personal
feedback report outlining the specific behaviors that his/her manager, peers, and direct reports
viewed as being specific strengths or developmental opportunities. From a higher level, 360
group reports provided further insight into current performance levels across the entire
Enterprise Messaging Support Leadership Team.
“Censeo’s Online 360 has provided Microsoft with a better understanding of our
strengths and areas for improvement. This allows us to do a better job in targeting
our training and development resources to the areas they are needed most,” says Jim
Chismar, Microsoft Enterprise Messaging Support Group Manager.
“More and more, companies are realizing the value that employee assessment provides in
creating more targeted, cost-effective employee development initiatives. Microsoft is a prime
example of this,” said Jim Higgins, Vice President with Censeo Corporation.
